If something goes wrong on a launchpad, you want to get people away from the danger as quickly as possible. SpaceX is testing out these new emergency escape chutes, meant to get you away from the rocket and on the ground as quickly as possible: Assuming multiple evacuees, I imagine once you reach the bottom, you've gotta scramble to not get nailed by the next person....
