  • Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Columbia, Maryland. The role involves daily and weekly accounts payable processing, bank reconciliations, and maintaining all AP records in line with policies and procedures. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide support for internal and external annual audits, assist with data for annual budget preparation, and work on projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Process daily and weekly accounts payable efficiently

    • Attend to the department's daily needs for immediate assistance

    • Prepare bi-weekly client deposits and daily deposits in QuickBooks

    • Assist in monthly accounts receivable processing

    • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and customer invoices

    • Provide support for monthly G/L reconciliations

    • Be responsible for monthly online credit card processing, including verifying expense receipts

    • Research internal and external accounting inquiries

    • Process yearly 1099 documents

    • Perform quarterly inventory count on company's gift cards

    • Maintain all AP Records following the Document Retention Policy & Procedures

    • Provide support for internal and external annual audit, prepare reports and assemble documents

    • Assist with providing data for annual budget preparation

    • Work with the Finance Manager on projects and other duties as assigned. Requirements - Minimum of 1 year experience in a Staff Accountant role or a similar position

    • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

    • Demonstrated experience with Bank Reconciliations

    • Familiarity with General Ledger operations and maintenance

    • Ability to prepare and analyse Journal Entries

    • Experience with Month End Close procedures

    • Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Excellent communication and organizational skills

    • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

    • Must be authorized to work in the country.
