Sr. Property Accountant

One of the region's leading real estate developers, investors and property managers is seeking a Sr. Accountant to join their team. This is a unique opportunity as the Sr. Accountant will not only have their portfolio of 8-10 commercial and multi-family properties but also work on projects to transform and enhance the financial reporting for the organization while working directly with the Controller. THis position is on-site at their beautiful offices in Rockville. It's a salaried position with excellent work life balance and professional growth opportunities. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and prepare various corporate and property level results to be presented to management.

• Prepare corporate cash flows and a portfolio analysis for the executive team on a quarterly basis.

• Create a quarterly reporting package to be distributed to management.

• Document processes for different departments to highlight inefficiencies and ensure adequate controls are in place.

• Create reports to document the company's ROI and property trends.

• Assist with the improvement of the Company's property variance analysis.

• Prepare and reconcile GL accounts.

• Generate and review management fees for assigned properties.

• Prepare in-house reports.

• Reconcile back charge accounts.

• Prepare bank reconciliation's for approximately 30 accounts.

• Prepare financial statements and variance reports, preparing accruals and working with the property managers.

• Reconcile the rent schedule and book vacancy for the commercial properties.

• Prepare reports to issue to outside partners.

• Prepare workpapers including reconciliations for all asset and liability accounts.

• Prepare lenders statements as needed.

• Prepare Income & Expense reports for local jurisdictions.

• Renew the Business, Professional and Occupational Licenses (BPO) and/or rental licenses.

• Prepare budgets for some expense categories in Yardi.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related area of study

• 3+ years of EITHER property accounting OR public accounting experience

• MS Excel proficiency with Pivot Tables, SUMIF, VLOOKUPS, etc.

• Strong written & verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
