Job Summary:
At Caterpillar's Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble Large Mining Trucks and Construction equipment. In this role as a Quality Engineer, you will report to the Quality Manager, and will be primarily responsible for ensuring that producst being built and processes being used adhere to all standards and requirements meeting the expectations of internal and external customers. As a member of the Quality Management Fabrication, Machine, Drive Train Assembly, and Paint team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
Performing quality reviews and internal audits; evaluating data and writing reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Monitoring engineering processes and products for adherence to company and regulatory standards and practices; participating in quality improvement initiatives and projects.
Analyzing statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.
Recommending modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
Conducts investigations and analyses which contribute to the development and implementation of methods, procedures and equipment that ensure quality standards for parts and prime products

Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.
Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.
Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies.
Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.
