  • Direct hire (permanent) opportunity with a robotic packaging automation company in York, PA.

    Overview

    The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for monitoring the assembly of robotics systems, as well as configuration/programming, testing, and commissioning of their systems at the customer sites. With the support of the Systems Engineer, the projects will be commissioned and debugged by the Commissioning Engineer after initial design and purchasing activities have been completed. The Commissioning Engineer must enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, programming, travel, and striving to ensure automation equipment is functioning at peak performance. The Commissioning Engineer will have many opportunities to solve complex, non-standard, time-sensitive, and hands-on challenges in automation that require self-motivated, creative, out-of-the-box thinking.

    Duties

    • Responsible for commissioning systems on time to meet project deadlines;

    • Engages Lead Systems Engineer or Mechanical/Electrical Designers to correct issues;

    • Advises and guides manufacturing/shop resources during system assembly if/when needed;

    • Configures and programs delta robot and B&R Trak motions to achieve desired system operation;

    • Configures evaluates, and refines robot End of Arm Tooling operations;

    • Configures and tests system conveyors as needed;

    • Programs vision systems for target locating and inspection operations;

    • Assists in the planning and execution of system installation and commissioning at customer sites;

    • Provides feedback to Sales/Application/Service when needed and during project close-out;

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • 2-year associate degree in Mechatronics/Robotics or 4-year college degree majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience;

    • 2-10 years of technical/professional training;

    • Knowledge of material conveyance, robotics, vision systems, and automation is preferred;

    • Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D design software is preferred;

    • Ability to prioritize when performing multiple tasks;

    • Ability to work independently without close supervision;

    • Computer skills are required at an advanced level;

    • Capability to generate problem solutions;

    • Robotic/vision system configuration and programming experience are preferred;

    • Ability to travel up to 25%;
