Full Time (80 Hours Biweekly)
May be scheduled any combination of the following shifts:
7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
On call rotation (evenings, weekends [Saturday & Sunday] & holidays)
The General Operating Room utilizes 7 rooms to perform surgeries from such specialties as: General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, GYN/GYN Oncology, Plastic Surgery and Podiatry on a routine basis. We also use 2 of these rooms to perform surgery using an Si and an Xi robot which is a great benefit to our patient population. There are 2 other rooms which can be utilized for Endoscopic procedures so that those patients who cannot easily go to an outpatient setting for their procedure can be assured that all their needs can be met in our OR.
Under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, provides nursing care to patients in an Operating Room environment. Assists clinical team with preparation and completion of care of patients undergoing surgery and / procedure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients, including checking vital signs, charting test results, application of preop CHG wipes
Prepares the operating room for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of case.
Prepares room between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
Assists in positioning and draping of patients for surgical procedures.
Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
Maintain correct count of instruments, sutures and sponges.
Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards.
Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
Performs point of use care of instruments.
Assists surgeons during operations / procedures such as retracting tissues, cutting of sutures under direction/supervision.
Identifies and cares for specimens.
May be required to rotate work between the hospital and an ambulatory setting
Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum Education: Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Required Certification/Registration: Current LPN license in PA; BCLS/ACLS/PALS certification, as required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Required Course(s)/Training: Completion of accredited LPN program; rhythm recognition course per unit of assignment
