The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets of event planning and implementation, volunteer management, and community outreach. It will offer experience in the use of current business and development technologies, including the use of a PC computer and various software applications. Our internships offer the opportunity to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization, further develop communication and presentation skills, and experience skills in team collaboration and customer service.
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week

Work done primarily in office with some remote work

Locaton: Irving, TX
Working with event teams on volunteer recruitment and management
Work alongside Director of Events with all vendor and venue agreements, assist with invoice processing, and scheduling
Event timeline management
Supply ordering and tracking management
Assistance in coordinating and communicating with event staff
Management of Heart Walk event data and logistics
Act as the day of event vendor point of contact
Event photographer booking and management
Shot lists, photo receipt and organization
Management and organization of venue and vendor databases
Day of event assistance to the Director of Events
Event décor inventory management
Assistance in all meeting preparation
Effective oral, written and presentation communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities
Ability to plan, produce and execute events
Meeting management and event management including set up, Outlook invitations, copies, catering, logistics and meeting minutes
Knowledge of business letter writing format, style, and protocol
Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Basic knowledge of Canva, Animoto and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
Minimum availability 20hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Laptop (the preference would be for interns to use their own equipment)
Reliable WiFi connection
