On behalf of the Canvas Axient Joint Venture (CQJV), Axient is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer to support the AFRL/RQVX Branch at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
AFRL/RQVX primarily provides wind tunnel testing and experiments to satisfy the requirements of Aerospace Sciences Division researchers, but the branch also provides experiments to customers from other portions of AFRL, the Air Force, DoD, and industry. The testing facility consists of a full spectrum of wind tunnel types and sizes that all require complex electrical systems to generate the various air speeds involved in the research. Duties and responsibilities include:
Maintain drawings of all electrical systems and subsystems used in the operation of the wind tunnel facilities; this includes updating drawings to reflect the current state and version control.
Where practical, the Contractor shall create drawings where such drawings do not exist.
Design, test, operate, and verify power systems from 24V to 6.9KV, including transformers, high voltage breakers, motor control centers, and load centers.
Supervise the installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems and Execute all tasks in conformance with electrical codes.
Design and troubleshoot power systems, motors, generators, and static drives.
Program and design PLC logic using Modicon and Allen Bradley PLCs.
Monitor the state of the facility electrical systems to advise the Government on anticipated capabilities enhancement requirements or opportunities for modernization of electrical systems and subsystems.
Candidates must possess the following:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
DoD Secret clearance (have or be able to acquire and maintain)
Candidates must possess experience with, and working knowledge of, the following:
Medium Voltage Power Equipment (2.4kV, 4.16kV, 6.9kV range)
AC and DC Drive Systems (Motors, Generators, VFD's)
Medium Voltage Power Protection Principles & Experience
Electrical Power Schematics
Single Line Diagrams
Hands on experience with qualified electricians a plus
Examples of relevant equipment:
4,500 - 20,000 Horsepower AC Synchronous Motors
3,500 Horsepower AC Induction Motors
3,300 HP/2,500 kW DC Motor/Generator Field Control
900 Horsepower DC Motor Drive Systems
Medium-Voltage Power Distribution
Electro-Mechanical and Microprocessor Style Power Protection Devices
Motor/Shaft-Driven Centrifugal and Reciprocating Compressor Loads
3-Phase Motor Starting Theory (Wye-Delta, Line Starting, Reactors, Rheostats)
Variable Frequency Drive Controls
Up to 185kW, 3-Phase Heaters
Schneider Electric (Modicon/Quantum) and Allen Bradley PLC Programming
