    Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer (Experienced, Level 3) or (Senior, Level 4) or (Lead, Level 5) to support the development of electro-optical systems at the Starfire Optical Range, Kirtland AFB, NM .

    This position supports the R&D mission of the Air Force Research Laboratory Optics Division in their advancement of Space Domain Awareness capabilities. The site houses telescope research facilities ranging in size from 0.5m up to 3.5m with advanced optical systems. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the development of electro-mechanical pointing and tracking control systems.

Our team consists of engineers and technicians in all disciplines required to plan, design, integrate, and test complex optical, electronic, quantum systems to achieve research objectives.

    Position Responsibilities :

    • Assist with the documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for hardware systems.

    • Use and troubleshoot electronic circuitry with basic test devices (i.e. Volt meter, logic analyzer, oscilloscope, clock generators, function generators).

    • Gather requirements, develop a design, implement, test, and deploy in cooperation with the customer.

    • Manage multiple projects and priorities through their full life cycle.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim or final U.S. TS/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) :

    • Experience interfacing with hardware circuit boards such as 1553, Serial RS-422/485, Digital, or Analog.

    • 3+ years of experience designing with Power Electronics and Analog Circuits.

    • 3+ experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design.

    • 3+ years of experience designing circuit board level test equipment for engineering and lab use.

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) :

    • Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

    • Electrical Engineer with 10 years of real-world experience.

    • Experience using schematic designs and PCB layouts, and fabrication packages using integrated computer aided design (CAD) tools (i.e. OrCAD, PADS).

    (Experienced, Level 3):

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    (Senor, Lead 4):

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    (Lead, Level 5):

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Relocation :

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

    Summary Pay Range (Experienced, Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950

    Summary Pay Range (Senior, Level 4): $119,850 - $162,150

    Summary Pay Range (Lead, Level 5): $143,650 - $194,350
