Biologist/NEPA Specialist

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Biologist/NEPA Specialist to join one of the world's largest environmental engineering firms to work in the Albuquerque, New Mexico office. This person will support a variety of challenging and complex water resources projects in the southwest and throughout the nation. There are also opportunities for future advancement into Project Management this position. This person will be responsible or some management of projects including leading technical components, tracking budgets and client coordination as well as assist in business development for biological/environmental work. The core functions of this person will be planning, leading and conducting field surveys for vegetation, wildlife, and wildlife habitat. Additionally, preparing stream and river restoration plans, and overseeing development of environmental permits, including CWA Sections 404/401. About 25% of the job responsibility will be field work across New Mexico and Southwest states as needed. Finally, will coordinate with clients, meet with stakeholders, and document field assessments.

Job Responsibilities

Assisting team members with conducting field surveys for vegetation, wildlife, and wildlife habitat

Evaluating field survey findings to develop environmental permit documentation

Completing permit documentation based upon experience with: Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Environmental Policy Act

Stream, river, wetland, and riparian restoration planning

Performing wetland delineations

GIS based mapping and analysis

Management of projects including leading technical components, planning and leading field surveys

Project management including tracking budgets and client coordination

Assist in business development for biological/environmental work

Skills and Requirements

4+ years of experience in a biologist or environmental scientist related role.

Bachelor's degree in Biology or Natural Resources discipline

Heavy experience with NEPA reporting, compliance, and documentation.

Knowledge of local plant, fish and/or wildlife species and their habitat requirements

Experience developing habitat assessment, mitigation and/or monitoring plans. Experience with CWA (Clean Water Act) and ESA (Endangered Species Act) compliance and documentation.
