You Already Have What it Takes

Over the holiday season we received a flower bulb from a friend. We planted it in front of our kitchen window, gave it a little water and forgot about it. There it sat for about two or three weeks. One day we noticed a little green sprout that started to emerge from the soil. A few days later it seemed to grow a little more. About five weeks after planting it, it started to grow substantially every day. From that point it was absolutely amazing how fast its’ sturdy green stalk started growing. In the morning you could even see how it had grown from the night before. Finally this beautiful flower started to form a bud. From there it started to develop even more each day until now, you can see it is growing a little more every few hours. This absolutely stunning flower is now revealing to the world its’ vibrant colors of red, yellow, purple and black.

This magnificent creation is mind boggling. Yet, it reminded me of the individuals that attend my customized company and organization workshops. Although these people are far more advanced and remarkable than our beautiful flower bulb, the fact that they have the potential to grow, is quite similar.

And that brings me to this point. If you are not satisfied in the job you presently have or are between careers, rest assured, you already have what it takes to find the perfect job that will allow you to be happy. If you are getting discouraged because your efforts have not produced the results you want, do not despair. Like the flower I spoke about earlier, you already have inside you what it takes to develop your career potential.

Although it can be frustrating at times, you can and you must persist. By continually taking action, you will move closer and closer to your goal. Here are a few action tips that will allow you to tap your inner resources and keep you moving in the right direction:

  • Continue to use this website as source of career strategy information.
  • Do informational networking on a regular basis.
  • Be flexible in your description of your ideal job.
  • Communicate with your career search buddy on a regular basis.
  • Persist until you succeed.
