    Dial a Ride
    $15 - $18.24 hour
    80% FTE Benefits

    Under general supervision, responsible for operating the County’s Dial-A-Ride vehicle including, but not limited to, driving passengers from the Markleeville area to and from neighboring communities in California and Nevada per the Dial-A-Ride service area, assisting and securing people with disabilities and those in wheelchairs, performing daily vehicle inspections, fueling the vehicle, scheduling rides, keeping records on ridership including origin and destination of trips, mileage and hours of operation and related work as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:       

    • Any combination of education and/or recent experience that has provided the knowledge skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. 
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • Experience driving a vehicle;

    Other Requirements:

    • Mandatory to have a valid State driver’s license
    • If hired as a Transit Driver, drug and alcohol testing will be administered as follows:
      • Pre-employment;
      • Post-accident;
      • Reasonable suspicion;
      • Random testing;
      • Return to work; and
      • Follow-up testing.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: 80% FTE in a five step salary system with advancement upon satisfactory completion of a one year probationary period and annual increases thereafter. Salary Range 35 ($15-$18.24) per hour, 32 hours per week.

    • Vacation

      :  Accrued at the rate of 6.67 hours per month, or 10 vacation days per year.
    • Sick Leave

      Earned at the rate of 8 hours per month.

      :  15 paid holidays per year.
    • Retirement

      :  Participation in the California Public Employee Retirement System (PERS), 2% at 62 plan New Members
    • Deferred Compensation

      :  Voluntary deferred compensation program offered.
    • Alpine County is a drug, alcohol and smoke-free workplace.
